"Services will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home with Don Forbes officiating. Interment will follow at the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Coleman. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 till 7 pm at Henderson Funeral Home.
"He was born Archie Perry Davis August 27, 1924 in Gritt, Texas to the late Joe D. and Minnie Scevers Davis. Archie was raised in Gorman where he attended schools and lived in numerous locations. In 1947 Archie married Bobbie Jane Whiteley in Anson, Texas and they celebrated sixty four years of marriage. Bobbie preceded him in death in 2011. Archie was a World War II veteran serving his country with the U S Army and received a purple heart while serving in New Guinea. He has been a resident of Coleman since 1979 moving here from Odessa where he had resided for many years. Archie was a member of the Baptist Church and was a pipeline welder with Pipeline Ind. Union 798 until retirement.
"Survivors include: Daughter – Janice and husband Don Forbes of Plano, Texas; Son – Jimmy and wife Dorothy Davis of Austin, Texas; Grandson – Steven Eastburn of Plano, Texas; Sister – Ovella Kirklin of Brady, Texas; Several Nieces and Nephews.
"Archie was preceded in death by brother William Davis.
"In lieu of flowers family requests memorial be made to Wounded Warriors or Alzheimer's Association."
