Bobby D. Dunkin Sr., a 78-year-old resident of Davenport, IA, died on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Genesis Medical Center-East Campus in Davenport.
A celebration of life service was held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. Burial was in the Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Dunkin was born on Dec. 24, 1933 in Trenton, the son of Herman and Flossie Winger Dunkin. He was married on May 26, 1953 to Betty J. Ewing. The couple moved to Davenport and raised their family. He worked as a quality technician for Alcoa until his retirement in 1984. He was ordained as a deacon of his Southern Baptist faith for 42 years. He also enjoyed bowling.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Davenport; five children, Retta (Joe) Richter of Davenport, Joyce (Rick) Cook of Orion, IL, Bobby (Theresa) Dunkin Jr. of North Liberty, IA, Brenda (Dave) Elmore of Davenport, and Jack Dunkin of Rock Island, IL; a brother, Paul D. Dunkin of Napoleon, OH; a brother-in-law, Jim Powell of Davenport; a sister-in-law, Imogene Wagner of Hiawatha, KS: nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven sisters and two brothers.
Memorials may be made to the New Life Baptist Church in Davenport.
