DAVENPORT - Funeral services for Betty J. Dunkin, 77, of Davenport, will be held at noon on Friday, January 11, 2013, at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary chapel in Davenport. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until service time at the mortuary. Interment will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Dunkin passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013, at her home.
Betty Joanne Ewing was born on July 15, 1935, in Trenton, Mo., the daughter of Roy and Fannie (Watson) Ewing. On May 26, 1953, she was united in marriage to Bobby D. Dunkin in Trenton. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2012. Mrs. Dunkin was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be fondly remembered for her love of family and reverent faith in the Lord. Mrs. Dunkin was also a member of New Life Southern Baptist Church, Davenport.
Those left to honor her memory are her children, Retta (Joe) Richter of Davenport, Joyce (Rick) Cook of Orion, Ill., Bobby (Theresa) Dunkin Jr. of North Liberty, Iowa, Brenda (David) Elmore of Davenport, and Jack Dunkin of Rock Island; a sister, Imogene Wagner of Hiawatha, Kan.; two brothers-in-law, Jim Powell of Davenport, and Paul (Jimmie) Dunkin of Napoleon, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Chester Ewing, Cline Ewing, and Phyllis Elliott.
