James Watkins Carter (1850-1941), third of four sons born Charles Carter and Feriba (Veazey) Carter of Talladega County, Alabama. Born December 22, 1850 in Talladega. Married 1874 in Brenham, Texas, Mary Elizabeth Jameson. Father of James Robinson Carter, Inez (Carter) Mabry, William Henry Carter, and one other daughter. Charles Carter had four sons; three moved to Texas. The only son of Charles Carter to remain in Alabama was John Albert Carter, Sr. of Talladega and Anniston.
