Mr. Browning was born in St. Jo, Montague County, Texas to William Henry and Fannie Alice Whaley Browning. He moved to Vega,Oldham Co. in 1938. He married Naveta Thelma Farnsworth on May 13, 1941 in Vega. He farmed wheat and milo in Oldham County for 33 years, and also raised registered Black Angus cattle and Quarter Horses. He moved to Lelia Lake in Donley County in April 1975 where he farmed and raised wheat, cotton, and hogs until he retired in 1998 and moved into Clarendon. He was an active member of the Clarendon Church of Christ and served as a deacon for several years. He also served in the US Army for a period of time.
SURVIVORS - his wife, Naveta Browning of Clarendon; 3 daughters, Sue Thompson and husband Marvin of Clarendon,TX, Patty Browning and Tippy Browning both of Lamesa, TX; 2 sons, Bill Browning and wife Susan of Bushland, TX, Sam Browning and wife Linda of Miami, TX; 1 sister, Lorene Ivins of Gainesville, TX; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 4 nephews; and 3 nieces.
