Kathryn Mary McKenna McKinney, 94, formerly of Erie, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Prophets Riverview – Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 5th at St. Ambrose Church, Erie. Visitation will be from 4-6 PM Friday at Gibson – Bode Funeral Home, Erie. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sterling, IL. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Kathryn was born December 26, 1918 in Chicago, IL, to Marie and Dominic DeMarsailles. She was adopted from St. Vincents Foundling Home in Chicago by Thomas and Mary Riordon of Rock Falls on September 18, 1919. She graduated from the Catholic Community High School, Sterling, in 1937. She married Martin T. McKenna in 1937. He preceded her in death in 1961. She later married Mahlon L. McKinney in 1966. He preceded her in death in 1991. Kathryn loved to sew and was a member of the War Mothers of Veterans. She also enjoyed making quilts and clothing for her family.
Kathryn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Gloria McKenna, Erie; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands; two sons, Clare and Tom McKenna; two daughters, Mary McKenna and Annette Frye and a grandchild.
