He was the son of Seymour Lamb Mendenhall and Lula Crandall of Springville, Utah.



As the Co-Pilot, he survived the crash landing of B-24J #42-73390 which was forced during a training mission at March Field CA, 1 February 1944. There were six survivors and four fatalities. The crew members were~
