Grizelda Strong, daughter of William Strong and Margaret [née McDill] Strong, was born December 14th 1827 in the bounds of Hopewell A. R. P. near Blackstock in Chester County, South Carolina. Just fourteen days after Grizelda's birth, her mother passed away due to complication of that birth.
At the age of about 5 years, Grizelda's father remarried and moved the family west to the area around Lincoln County, Tennessee and Prosperity A.R.P. church.
On the 12th of August 1846, Grizelda married Thomas Pringle Grier, son of James "Jimmy" and Jane [née Bigham] Grier of Steele Creek in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Grizelda and Thomas had the following known children.
