Mrs. JOSEPH J. LaROCHE
The Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered at 11 am Monday at Sacred Heart Church in Bennington for Mrs. Irene LaRoche of 110 Silver St. Bennington, widow of Joseph J. LaRoche, who died unexpectedly at her home Thursday afternoon. She was 72.
A native of Bennington, and longtime resident of River Street, she was born June 29, 1902 to Onesphore and Clara (Roy) Betit. She received her education in the local schools and was married May 12, 1919. Mr. LaRoche died Oct 2, 1961. She was employed at Tansitor Electronics until her retirement in 1967, was a communcant of Sacred Heart Church and belonged to the St. Ann's Society of that church.
She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Martina Maloney of Bennington and Mrs. Claire Reginia of East Greenwich, R.I.; six sons, Francis O., Andre F. and Paul L. all of Bennington; Leo T. of Hoosick Falls, Robert of Fremont, Neb. and Richard C. of Manchester; 25 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Lucy Longtin, Mrs. Delphine Forrest, Mrs. Beatrice Cardinal, Mrs. Julianne Sinclair and Miss Gertrude Betit, all of Bennington; an aunt, Mrs. Ida Gosselin of Bennington; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home at 10:30 am will precede the funeral Mass. Burial will be in the family plot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday evening from 7 to 9 and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm when the family will be in attendance. A wake service will be conducted at the funeral home at 7:30 pm Sunday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad through the funeral home office.
