Bruce Alan Boyd of Idalou went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at the age of 56. He was born on Feb. 15, 1956, in Lubbock, Texas, to Weldon and Peggy (Kelso) Boyd. Bruce graduated from Idalou High School in 1974; he then graduated from Texas Tech in 1978, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Bruce was an independent landman, working for various oil companies, and he was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Idalou. Bruce was known for his infectious smile, laugh, quick wit and vast knowledge of useless information. His memory will be cherished by his parents, Weldon and Peggy Boyd of Idalou; brother, Rick Boyd of Lubbock; sister, Phyllis Boyd Clark of Argyle; and five nephews. Bruce was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie and Eula Boyd, and Don and Lena Kelso, and brother-in-law, Randy Clark.

Celebration of life services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Idalou with interment to follow in City of Lubbock Cemetery.
