Following a courageous battle with cancer, the angels came to greet JoAnn Catherine (Debbrecht) Adams, age 70, of Hays, on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Hays Medical Center. She was born August 17, 1942 in Dalhart, Texas to Joseph and Rose (Albers) Debbrecht. A loving and caring daughter, sister, mother and mamaw, JoAnn mothered her special four children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews as well as girls from many different countries and the United States who attended TMP-Marian High School. She will always be remembered for her contagious smile, her fabulous organization skills and those wonderful sticky notes and long lists. JoAnn held an Associate Degree in Fashion Design from Dodge City Community College and was an awesome floral designer. She moved to Hays in 1993 and became the TMP-Marian Dorm "Mom" for 18 years.
JoAnn is survived by three daughters, JoLores Karabatsos of Jersey City, NJ, Vernell Major and her husband Randy of Hays, Michelle Dunnagan of Hays; son, Kyle Adams and his wife Rita of Souix Falls, SD; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and one due in June; sister, Dolores McKibbin and her husband Jim of Waxahachie, Texas..
She is preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Ronnie Karabatsos and niece Natalie Ann McKibbin.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. Burial will be in the church cemetery. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays.
