Funeral services for Bruce Cottle, 77, of Roanoke were Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996, at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Mr. Franklin Smith officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Cottle died suddenly Saturday, Dec. 28, at his home.
A former resident of Jonesboro, Ga., he was a Randolph County native, born Feb. 23, 1919, son of Jim and Annie Brown Cottle. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was retired from work as a civil engineer.
Survivors include his wife, Eris Poore Cottle; one daughter, Debbie Jean Cottle; two grandchildren, Angel Smith and Travis Jackson; and two sisters, Mildred Waller and Annie Lou Calhoun, all of Roanoke.
Pallbearers were Doug Brown, Gene Cochran, Jackie Whaley, Gary Burke, Winford Brown and Billy Worley.

The many friends of both the bride and groom will be interested to learn of the marriage Saturday night [March 16, 1940] of Miss Eris Poore to Bruce Cottle. The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Coley Poore, and the groom is the only son of Mrs. Annie Cottle. They will be at home with the groom's mother for the present.
