Welcome to this service of remembrance and love for Dawn Elizabeth Anderson.
Dawn's passing has no doubt left a void in all your lives but no greater is the loss than to those who were closest to her.
Our thoughts today are with Dawn's husband Sam, her children and their spouses: David and Sharon, Tony and Renee and Jannene and Mark, her grandchildren Shayne, Nicole, Amanda, Emily, Allie, Abby, Georja and Ashlee, great grandson Easton and her brother Alex.
We also remember today Dawn's parents Percy and Gladys, her sister Edna and her brothers Owen and Les who have all predeceased her.
This time you spend together today is to remember Dawn and to allow your sorrow and sadness to surface and be expressed in words, in tears, in reflection or in whatever way is meaningful to each of you.
Whether you are family or caring friends your coming together here is a comfort and support to each other and by sharing your grief and sorrow you will gain strength to help you find closure and eventually move on without the physical presence of your loved one.
When we lose someone dear to us the grief that we feel can be intence, but grief is a great indicator and measure of love and grief does not exist if there has not been love. Grief is an expression of your love.
Nothing can change your love for Dawn or her love for you, and whilst you think of her passing with sadness and regret, you should recall her life with respect and happiness and remember Dawn for the happy times you shared. Family and friends can never be altered by time, circumstances or even by death. The past with all its meaning remains sacred and secure.
Dawn was born on 21st May 1945, in Hamilton New Zealand to parents Percy and Gladys Hedge. She was one of 5 children with siblings Alex, Edna, Owen and Les.
She grew up and went to school in the Hamilton district and after leaving school became a seamstress.
She met a young man by the name of Sam who came from across the "ditch". Sam had been working in the oil fields of Western Australia and being a little "cashed up" decided to go to New Zealand where he met Dawn in Hamilton. Well romance developed, they were married in 1967 and the rest as they say is history. Dawn and Sam have three children; David, Tony and Jannene.
Now Sam always reckoned that Dawn spent all his money so maybe that is why when they decided to leave Hamlton they agreed they would go to wherever the first bus out of town was going. This they did and ended up in Hastings.
For most of their time in Hastings Dawn and Sam owned and ran a convenience store. But then in 1987 they decided to move to Australia where their eldest son David had already ventured. They lived at Alexandra Hills and then Redland Bay and for some 15 years had a "Take Away" shop in Capalaba, retiring in the early 2000's.
One of their most favorite pastimes was going to the Gold Coast which they did on most Sundays. It would be fishing, a picnic or the Casino where Dawn liked a flutter on the tables.
So today you recall the experiences, the relationships, you shared with Dawn. The special moments and memories will always be in your hearts. Your lives are more special because you knew her.

Committal
Saying goodbye to someone we love is never easy. But the time has come for us to tenderly and reverently commit the mortal body of dear Dawn to the elements and ultimately to the earth from which all life comes and to which all in the end returns.
Cherish the memory of her words, and deeds of her character. Cherish her love and friendship. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. We leave her in peace and bid her farewell but although she is no longer with you physically, her spirit will remain with you always. She lives on in you and is as much a part of your lives as ever before. Her smile her nature her deeds you will remember always in your hearts.
