Funeral services for Glenn Kirkwood; who died Friday, Feb. 9, 1962 at the age of 69, were held Monday afternoon, Feb. 12, at the Chapel of Macy and Son. Interment was at Hopewell Cemetery.

Son of Thomas and Emma Sampson Kirkwood, he was born July 31, 1892 at Hopewell. He was reared and educated there and was in school administration in Oregon for 25 years, serving as principal at Molalla and The Dalles, school superintendent at Lafayette and had taught at Clark college in Vancouver, Wash. for three years.

In 1948, he joined the Corps of Engineers and spent from 1948 until 1957 in Alaska as a civil engineer. He taught at the University of Alaska. Due to poor health in 1957 he returned to make his home in Vancouver, Wash.

On Aug. 21, 1941 he married Inez Melrose at Cheyenne, Wyo.

Survivors include his wife, Inez; two sons, Ralph and Laurence Kirkwood, both of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Mrs. Lorena Ferris of Germany; two brothers, Roy of Amity and Ersel Kirkwood of Salem, four sisters, Mrs. Crystal Matthews of Portland, Mrs. Mildred Hickerson of Carmel, Calif., Mrs. Fred Brog of Salem and Mrs. Dorothy Mitchell of Oswego; and two grandchildren.
