VALLEY — Mrs. Anita Jenkins, 69, of Valley died Saturday, July 15, 2006 at her residence.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 18 at 11 a.m. at Johnson Memorial Gardens in Valley with the Rev. Ken Holt officiating.
Mrs. Jenkins is survived by her husband, Clark Jenkins; two sons, Jeff (Angela) Jenkins of LaGrange and John (Allie) Jenkins of Little Rock, Ark.; three grandchildren, Jeff Jenkins, Jake Jenkins and Aaron Jenkins; her sister, Virginia Moody of Montgomery; and her mother, Clessie L. Freeman.
Mrs. Jenkins was born Aug. 12, 1936 in Clay County, Ala. She was a native of the Valley area and a 1952 graduate of Valley High School. She was a very active member of Langdale Congregational Christian Church, as well as a member of several local organizations, including the "Steel Magnolias" and Women's Christian organizations. She was a retired employee of George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital with more than 30 years of service. She spent her retirement years traveling, spending time with family and friends and doing volunteer work at Callaway Gardens, specifically at the Sibley Nature Observatory. She was preceded in death by her son, Jim Jenkins, and her father, May Garfield Freeman.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 17 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
