He was a wire chief for the Union Pacific Roailroad for 43 years, mostly in its Omaha headquaters, and moved to Greeley in 1972 after his retirement.
Mr. Hartman was born January 19, 1907, at Deweese, Neb, the son of Charles and Mary Waechter-Hartman.
He was raised in Nebraska and married Doris F. George September 25, 1931 at Laramie, Wyo.
In Greeley, Mr. Hartman was active in the First United Presbyterian Church, Greeley Lodge 809 BPOE, Greeley Senior Citizens and the Union Pacific Oldtimers Club.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; a son, Gerald C. Hartman of Ithaca, N.Y.; and two daughters, Mrs. Faye Smith of Fort Collins and Mrs. Jerald (Diane) Dunn of Loveland.
In addition Mr. Hartman is survived by two brothers, Carl of Guide Rock, Neb., and Fred of Walnut Creek, Calif,; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Benker of Humansville, Mo.,and Mrs. Minnie Snook of Loveland; six granchildren and four great grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral was held September 3, 1980 with Rev. James Farley
