DEATH OF GLENN G. BABCOCK
PASSES AWAY AFTER HEART ATTACK AT HIS HOME
A Life-Long Resident of Carthage, He Had Worked 20 Years For Smith Brothers Manufacturing Company
Glenn George Babcock, 38, life-long resident of Carthage and an employee the last 20 years of Smith Brothers Manufacturing company plant here, died suddenly at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home on the East Chestnut street road. Death was due to coronary occlusion.
Mr. Babcock ws stricken while repairing the porch roof at his home. A physician was summoned and administered medical care. Death came about an hour and a half after he became ill. As far as members of his family know, this was Mr. Babcock's first attack of a heart ailment.
He was born March 14, 1909 in Carthage. At the time of his death, Mr. Babcock was employed as a marker in the cutting room at Smith Brothers plant. He and his family formerly lived in Carthage and three years ago the moved to the home on East Chestnut Street road, which was the home of his parents.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Blanche Harbaugh Babcock, to whom he was married May 19, 1929 in Tulsa; four sons, Jim 17, Dick 16, Bob 14 and Kenneth 13; his father Frank P. Babcock of Paola, KS.; two brothers, Carl and Clarence Babcock of route 1, and a sister, Mrs. Robert Sails, Carthage. His three older sons are students in Carthage High School and Kenneth is a pupil in Eugene Field school. Mrs. Elmer Rush, 101 Fulton is Mrs. Babcock's mother.
Mr. Babcocks mother died October 15, 1934 in the home where he passed away. She died suddenly of a cerebral hemorrhage.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Knell service home, with the Rev. Stanley Letcher, pastor of the First Christian church, of which Mr. Babcock was a member, in charge. Burial will be in Park Cemetery.
