Robert R. Sewell Sr., 81, a resident of Gooding, Idaho, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Robert Sewell Sr. was born April 5, 1931 in Pittsburgh, Kansas, the son of Molly and Clarence Sewell. He was raised and educated in Omaha, Nebraska, and later in Los Angeles, California. He attended deaf schools in Nebraska as well as Berkeley, California. He graduated in 1952.
He married Lucille Simmons on May 31, 1964 in Carson City, Nevada, and were sealed in the L.D.S. Temple in Mesa, Arizona. They moved to Gooding, Idaho, where they worked at the deaf school. He also worked at Sawtooth National Forest as public media. He spent 30 years of his spare time developing patented technology. He is a member of the L.D.S. Church.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lucille Sewell; four sons, Daniel, Robin (Kurrie), Robert and Barry (Crystal) Sewell; one daughter, Mollie (Kevin) Rhea; two brothers, Clarence and John Sewell; 15 grandchildren, Kimberly, Andres, Cody, Deja, Cobi, Ison, Jennifer, Teri, Klint, Justin, Brandon, Ashely, Cheyanne, Chase and Braelyn; and eight great-grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Molly Sewell; sisters, Virginia and Ruth.

A private family service will be held at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel. Interment will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding. A memorial dinner will be served at the Gooding L.D.S. Church at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, January 8, 2013.
