Carl H. "Tootsie" Fowler, Sr., 78, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, NC.

He was the husband of Brenda Canipe Parris Fowler and was first married to the late Jan (Way) Fowler.

Mr. Fowler was a native of Spartanburg and a son of the late Buford Paul Fowler and Ruby (Satterfield) Fowler.

A retired cabinet maker, he was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Covenant.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Carl Hewitt "Hew" Jr. and Teresa Fowler of Williamston, SC; daughters and son-in-law, Kay and Charles Brunson of Irmo, SC, and Jennifer Hadden of Spartanburg; step sons and daughter-in-law, John and Susan Parris of Gaffney, SC, and Roger Parris of Spartanburg; three grandchildren, Megan Watkins, Caroline Shiffer and Casey Parris.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Peggy Gray, Dolores Roe and Cheryl Lawon; and one brother, Bobby Fowler.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Visitation was 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs.

Graveside services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens officiated by Rev. David Sutton.

Memorials could be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 2601 Fairwinds Rd., Landrum, SC 29356.
