The Wingers started their family in Hunter, Utah, in what is currently West Valley City. Melanie enjoyed playing with her siblings and friends in her yard and the neighboring fields. Melanie cherished memories as the family went on adventures in the mountains or fishing at Strawberry Reservoir, Flaming Gorge and elsewhere. She instilled that same love for the outdoors in her own daughters and created many fond memories with them there.
The Winger family looked forward to visiting Melanie's grandparents in the Preston, Idaho, area and eventually made this area their home. Melanie enjoyed high school, especially her experiences as a member of the Phi-Del drill team. She had a very beautiful alto voice and loved singing in choirs and school plays. Shortly after her graduation from Preston High School, Melanie was selected as the first attendant to Miss Franklin County.
Melanie married Jeff Hollingsworth, and to this union came four beautiful girls: her twins, Jessica and Jennifer, Heather and Holly Jo. Through thick and thin, Melanie's girls were the love and the stability in her life.
Eventually, Melanie was blessed with five cherished grandchildren: Chaz Gustin as well as Shaelynn, Daxton, Heather and Holli Miller. Melanie could not spend enough time with her grandchildren and was sad when they were away.
Melanie died peacefully during the Christmas holiday and was embraced in the loving arms of her family members who preceded her in death: her father Larry Winger; and her daughters Jennifer, Heather and Holly Jo. She is survived by her mother Beverly Winger; siblings Robyn Blau, Todd, Laurie Jo Earley and Shawn; the father of her children, Jeff Hollingsworth; daughter Jessica Miller; grandchildren; and sons-in-law Shane Miller and Matt Wheeler.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 East in Preston, Idaho, with Bishop Jim Summers conducting. Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
