She was born April 6, 1924, in Butler, to Fred and Mary Jane (Butterbaugh) Cox. She was a 1942 graduate of Madison High School and also had worked at Madison Schools.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheri and Carl Bricker of Mansfield, Leslie and Lowell Balliett of Bellville; a son and daughter-in-law, Chet and Jeannie Pittenger of Bellville; three stepsons and their spouses, Don and Fran Beckel of Rhode Island, Duane and Debbie Beckel, Dale and Judy Beckel, all of Mansfield; stepdaughter, Phyllis Cochran of Mansfield; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Jean Pittenger of Mansfield, Joanne and Steve Stephenson of Bellville. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean, whom she married April 17, 1982; three sisters, Ima Snyder, Dortha Palm, and Bonnie Daiber; three brothers-in-law, Russell Pittenger, Lowell Snyder and Blake Palm; and a niece, Sondra Osborne.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Thursday, December 30 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, conducted by her nephew, Bob Stephenson. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
