Mr. Calvin O. Blizzard, Sr., was born in Washington County, Georgia, on April 16, 1828, the son of Levi Blizzard and Rhoda O'Quinn Blizzard. He was first married to Patience Durden around 1847, and they had 7 children: James, Sarah Ann (Siss), William Bryant, Calvin Jr., Louis, Carrie, and Willie Ada. Patience Durden Blizzard died in 1871, and Calvin married Esther Lundy shortly afterward. They had no children. On the afternoon of July 12, 1898, Calvin was plowing in his field while his wife Esther was making lunch. When he didn't come home for lunch, she went looking for him and found him dead in the field. He had dropped dead of a heart attack while plowing. He was 70. He was survived by his wife, 7 children, and numerous grandchildren.
