Jack D. Caldwell, 82, of Outlook passed away April 28, 2006, at his home.

He was born Jan. 18, 1924 in Mooreland, Okla. to John and Beulah (McCormick) Caldwell, where he was raised and educated. During WW II he worked in the shipyards of California to support the war effort. After the war, he returned to the Oklahoma-Texas area, where he met his wife and was wed on Sept. 7, 1947 to Mina Marie Moses at Stuart, Neb. They ranched in north east Oregon for five years and came to the Sunnyside-Outlook area in 1952.

Jack was a member of Boilermakers Union #242, working on many Northwest dams and large construction projects. He also spent much of his time on his farm in Outlook, raising cattle and crops. That was what he enjoyed in life.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mina Caldwell; his daughter, Barbara Carpenter of Anchorage, Alaska; his two sons, Mike (Geri) Caldwell of Auburn and Dan (Kathy) Caldwell of Pasco; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bud (Pearline) Caldwell of Paden, Okla. and Joe (Judy) Caldwell of Union Gap; two sisters, Pearl Randall of Union Gap and Corkey (Sid) Cooper of Plainview, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and two brothers.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 6, 2006, at 1 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Sunnyside, 345 N. 11th Street, Sunnyside.

Special thanks to Dr. John Allen, Patty and Carmen, his Hospice Nurse Dorrie, loving friends, Dave, Rosemary, Chad and Jack's "little" Ana. God bless all who helped Jack through his last years of life.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lower Valley Hospice in care of Valley Hills Funeral Home.
