He married Matilda Huston on Feb 28, 1830 in Montgomery County, Indiana {Book #1, pg 75}. His surname was spelled Johnston on marriage record. He had 11 children, all born in Montgomery Co.; Kirson, Elizabeth Mahan, Nancy, Andrew, George Teasley, Jane Simms, Samuel, Labon, Matilda, Alexander, and Emily Hughes. His death record was in the mother's pension records of Andrew Johnson Jr. that was killed in the Civil War at the battle of Chickamauga in Georgia. Andrew Sr. died while Matilda was trying to get pension for Andrew Jr.'s death.
