Ethel Bolton Rutherford, 88, of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Rutherford was a homemaker and enjoyed working puzzles and walking in the mall, the family said.
She was born in Rockhold, Ky., on June 1, 1908, the daughter of Hiram and Sarah Cupp Bolton. She attended First Apostolic Church in Knoxville.
Mrs. Rutherford is survived by eight children, Jean Clifton and her husband, Bud, of Jacksonville, Fla., Don Rutherford and his wife, Lea, of Brighton, Mary Wallace and her husband, Steve, and Shirley Summers and her husband, Charles, all of Oak Ridge, Doris Wooten of Denver, Colo., Betty Burke and her husband, David, of Morris, Ill., Elizabeth Russo and her husband, Joseph, of Lakeland, Fla., and Jerry Rutherford and his wife, Jackie, of Lenoir City.
She is also survived by a brother, Charlie Bolton of Corbin, Ky.; and by 36 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, in the chapel of McCarty-Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy McCool officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at McCarty Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
