Death has again entered this community and claimed ono of our oldest inhabitants and early settlers, Mr. Perry Blakeman, He had been complaining about two months, but not until about a week previous to his death did he take to his bed, where he grew rapidly worse. His children were all summoned to his bedside where they remained ministering to his every wish and doing all they could. He passed away Apr 9, aged 77 years. Mr. Blakeman came from Albany Co. between 50 and 60 years ago and settled in this town. He was united in marriage to Miss Lorinda Coffin, who survives him. An indulgent and kind husband and loving father, one who was very fond of his family, and nothing pleased him more than to have his children and grandchildren all at home gathered around the old fireside. He will be missed by them as none other can be, not only by his family but by the community in general. The deceased leaves a wife, two sons, A. J. and Joel Blakeman of this place, and seven daughters Mrs. David Davis, of Fulton, Mrs. Thomas Garrett, of Volney Center, Mrs. Edwin Ware, of Clay, Mrs. N.R. Fergeson, Mrs. Fred Ware, Mrs. Geo. A. Fuller and Mrs. F. W. Lange, of this place. Funeral services were conducted from his late residence Wednesday and from the M.E. church in Little Utica. Burial made at Jacksonville cemetery.
