Hank Carpenter was bornJune 27, 1894 in Madison County, Arkansas, to John Bruton Carpenter and Samantha Ellen Short. He married Bethel Lizzie Keele December 14, 1924 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. They had one daughter; Betty Lee Jones of Skiatook, Oklahoma. Hank, like most of his brothers, was an oil field worker who lived most of his life in Broken Arrow. He died in Muskogee of stomach cancer at 79 years of age.
