John Bruton farmed during most of his youth, but became a smithy and owned and operated a blacksmith shop on South Main in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma next to the Katy Rail Line. The family home was on the north side of town, a few doors down from the rear of the old Central Elementary School.
He died at 78 years of age of nephritis.
