Services will be Saturday at Parker Mortuary for James L. Poyner, 92, Topeka, who was dead on arrival at a Topeka hospital Thursday afternoon. He was born Dec. 11, 1880 near Waterloo, Iowa and had lived in the Topeka area since 1908.
He formerly was a streetcar operator in Topeka and had owned and operated a grocery store at 13th and Madison many years before he retired.
He was married to the former Margaret A. Kelsey Feb. 1, 1906 in Garnett. She survives at the home. Survivors include 3 sisters, Mrs. Tressie Sportsman, Walsenburg, Colo., Mrs. May Logan, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Laura Paddock, Salida, Colo.; and 3 brothers, Robert L. Poyner, Rush, Colo., John W. Poyner, Topeka, and Charles H. Poyner, Colhan, Colo.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
