FARMER DROPS DEAD
WHILE THRESHING.
Galena, Kan., Sept. 7.—J. U. Carney, 70 years old, a long-time resident of the Galena district, dropped dead this morning when he started to work with a threshing crew on the Love farm, seven miles southwest of here.
The body was brought to the Boice Undertaking Company establishment here. Following an investigation, Coroner C. H. Jones announced that death was due to a stroke of paralysis.
Mr. Carney, a farmer and former Galena mine operator, had been living on the farm of Milas Kindall (sic) [Minis Tindall]. Surviving are a son, Cubert Carney of Galena, and a brother, Ben F. Carney of Spring City, Mo, Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

trict Died Suddenly on Way
to Work Saturday.
Galena, Kan., Sept. 7.—Funeral services for J. U. Carney, about 70 years old, a long-time resident of the Galena district, who died suddenly this morning when he started to work with a threshing crew on the Love farm, about seven miles southwest of Galena, will be held at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Boise funeral chapel; with the Rev. J. O. Derfelt in charge. Burial will be in the Galena cemetery.
Coroner C. H. Jones pronounced death due to a stroke of apoplexy.
Mr. Carney, a farmer and former Galena mine operator, had been making his home with Minis Tindall on a farm southwest of Galena.
Surviving are a son, Cubert Carney of Galena, and a brother, Ben F. Carney of Spring City, Mo.
