Hazleton Plain Speaker; Saturday, May 3, 1947:
Mrs. Elizabeth Krell Knies, aged 64 years, wife of Harry W. Knies, of 632 North Vine street, died at her home at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, following a five weeks illness of complications. She was born in Hazleton a daughter of John and Louisa (Boyer) Krell, and had been a lifelong resident of the city. She was a member of Grace Reformed Church, the Missionary Society and the Women's Guild of that congregation; of Mayflower Chapter No. 107, Order of Eastern Star and the Hazleton White Shrine.

Besides her husband, the following children survive: Rudolph B. Knies, of West Hazleton and Mrs. Bernard Pence, at home. Also a brother, William Krell, of Easton; and one sister, Mrs. Emily Johnson, of Wilkes-Barre, together with two grandchildren.

Private funeral services will be conducted from the Grebey Funeral Home on East Broad street, on Tuesday, with the Rev. William Y. Gebhard, officiating. Interment will be made in the Vine street cemetery. Friends may call at the Grebey Home on Monday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock.
