Donald W. Farrington 83 of Kokomo passed away at 7:18pm Thursday, December 20, 2012 at St. Joseph Hospital. Donald was born November 9, 1929 in Kokomo to the late Walter S. and Cora (Carter) Farrington. He was a 1948 graduate of Kokomo High School. Joined the U.S. Army, went to work at Continental Steel for 32 years, before retiring in 1980. His marriage to the former Betty L. Lytle who preceded him in death was in August 26, 1950. Donald attended First Baptist Church of Kokomo, was a member of American Legion Post 6. He loved golfing; he received many awards from local, state and national tournaments victories. He was a great golfer, one of his golfing buddies referred to him as a legend.
Survivors include; two daughters, Patricia Havens, (Daniel), Marilyn Phillips, (Joe), a sister; Lavelle Lawman, (Willie), four grandchildren; Nicholas Phillips, (Stefanie), Holly Adams, (Josh), Cameron Havens, (Carah), and Lyndsie Havens, Erica Havens-Brehm one great-grandson, and six great-granddaughter with one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Cora Farrington, also four brothers, and five sisters along with two grandsons; Adam Daniel Havens and Brett Austin Havens.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 10am – 1pm at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street. Services will follow at 1pm at Mortuary with Pastor Warren Purcell officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and the Kokomo Military Rites team at the cemetery. Contributions in Donald's memory may be made to American Heart Association or Southern Care Hospice. Envelopes will be provided at the mortuary.
