Lowell Campbell


Brown County native Lowell A. “Pappy” Campbell died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at the Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility. A resident of Knightsville, he was 99.

He was born April 10, 1901, to Hiram and K. Elizabeth (Lanum) Campbell.

A crane and steam shovel operator for Ralph Rogers Construction in Bloomington, he retired in 1971. Mr. Campbell had also worked for Big Ben Coal Company in Brazil.

He was a member and trustee of First Baptist Church in Brazil and a member of Ellettsville Baptist Church.

He also was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 841.

Survivors include a daughter, Marsha Guyer of Brazil; a brother Edwin Campbell of Bloomington; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, in 1957; his second wife, in 1995; two sisters and a brother.

The Reverend Richard McShanog officiated a service Saturday, July 29, at French Funeral Home in Brazil. Burial was in Bowling Green’s Fairview Cemetery.
