He was born on Oct. 20, 1937, in Page County and was a son of the late Walter McDaniel and Maude Foltz McDaniel.
Mr. McDaniel was a master builder and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 59 years, Janice Good McDaniel, are a son, R. Kenneth McDaniel Jr. of Midlothian; three daughters, Jeanie Southern of Powhatan, Doris Carter of Chesterfield, and Theresa Freeman of Midlothian; a sister, Kathryn Alley of Florida; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd, Granvil and Carroll McDaniel; and two sisters, Louise Shelton and Elizabeth Shelton.
A funeral service was conducted on Monday, Dec. 17, at the Grove Hill United Methodist Church in Shenandoah. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
