Samuel Richard "Buddy" Hamilton Jr., 71, Henderson, died at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at Little Sisters of the Poor in Evansville.

He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, American Association of Wood Turners, and Henderson Society of Art. Buddy was a locally renowned and award-winning artist in segmented wood turning.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Richard Hamilton Sr. and Mary Kathryn Carroll Hamilton.

Survivors include one son, Stuart L. Hamilton of Dallas, Texas; four sisters, Sarah Jennings and Mary Ann Thrasher, both of Henderson, and Jane Hamilton Burke and Nancy Wrinkles, both of Louisville; one brother, Frank Hamilton of Newburgh; nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Father J. Edward Bradley will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. today and until 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, where prayers will be said at 5 p.m. today.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Little Sisters of the Poor, or the Shelter for Women and Children.

Pallbearers will be Paul H. Jennings, Vincent Tweddell, Richard Hamilton, John Cecil Thrasher, Brad Boyd, Frank Nussbaum, Alexander Wrinkles and Christopher Meuth.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sarah K. Greenfield, Patricia Tweddell, Helen Gonsalves, Anne Thrasher Boyd, Margaret J. Langfeldt, Caroline Naiser, Susan George, Kathryn Lewis and Emily Ann Wrinkles.
