Violinist. He was a German-born English musician. He relocated to England in the early 1780s. He was a childhood friend of German composer, Ludwig van Beethoven. Salomon was doing quite well scouting and bringing talent to perform for the London's nobility. He arranged for Austrian composer, Franz Joseph Haydn, to visit England for concert tours, for which the twelve symphonies, that still known as the "Salomon Symphonies", were written. He was considered a good businessman as well as a musician. Capitalizing on Haydn's London trip, he was Haydn's principal violinist and securing the rights to arrange and perform any and all of the works Haydn produced during his visits. Salomon would help found the London Philharmonic Society. He composed some operas and instrumental pieces. At the age of thirteen, he became a violinist in the court orchestra and while beginning his career, six years later became the concert master of the orchestra of Prussia. He died from injuries after a fall from his horse.
