STERLING - Richard L. Gardner, 47, 1508 Ave. L died Thursday morning in Community General Hospital shortly after being admitted, apparently after suffering a heart attack. Whiteside County Coroner James Grennan said the death was due to natural causes.
He was employed at Northwestern Steel & Wire Co., as a guard.
Survivors include his widow, Mary; a daughter, Lisa, at home; two sons, David, Sterling, and Joseph, at home; a sister, Mrs. Robert Baker, Mount Morris, and a grandson.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Allen Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. A scripture service will be at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
