Marie was born on July 29, 1909 In Grand Marais, Michigan and after moving to Detroit with her family, finished her education, graduating from St. Catherine's High School in 1928.
Marie married Bernard York a year later, a native of Pennsylvania, who was currently residing in the Detroit area and working as a bath and swimming pool attendant for the city of Detroit.
Prior to the birth of their only child, Ronald York, Marie worked for a short period as a teachers aide in a kindergarten class.
In the middle thirties Ben became the manager of a private pool owned by a local amusement park located at Eight Mile and Gratiot, named Eastwood park.
The family left Detroit and moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 1938, where Ben continued to be engaged in swimming pool activities, and Marie was employed in a social security office in West Palm Beach. In later years Ben and Marie were divorced and Marie married Dan Brown.
Ron York, Ben and Marie's son was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in North Africa. After leaving the Navy Ron attended Florida State University and obtained an Engineering degree. He was employed the majority of his life as an engineer for the Florida Water Department, in which capacity he directed many installations in that state.

Bio written by brother, Earl LaFaive.
My own childhood memories of my Aunt Marie are her never faltering desire to smooch her nephews whenever she visited. I remember hiding under the sink to avoid this fate. Wouldn't any self respecting juvenile boy do the same?
