James A. Crafton, 88, Henderson, passed away at 7:50 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2008, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jeff Crafton; three brothers, Benjamin H. Crafton, Harold D. Crafton and Charles "Boy" Crafton; one sister, Wanda Crafton; and his parents, James A. and Elizabeth H. Crafton.

He was a member of the American Legion Worsham Post No. 40 and a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Chestine Crafton; four brothers, William Crafton of Palm Dale, Calif., Albert Crafton of Evansville, Norris Crafton of Zion and Wilbur T. Crafton of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sisters, Eleanor Eades of Henderson and Sara Boswell of Zion; one grandson, Jake Crafton of Henderson; and one daughter-in-law, Mitzi Crafton of Henderson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The Rev. Kevin Stone will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery.

Full military rites will be performed by the American Legion Worsham Post No. 40.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after noon Thursday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Deaconess St. Anthony's Hospice.
