Irene Winjum, 85, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and surrounded by her family.

Irene Berge was born December 1, 1924, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, daughter of George and Gina Berge.

Irene married Oren E. Winjum August 10, 1946. They moved to Fargo in 1956. Irene was always involved in her children's activities. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi and a member of the Fine Arts Club. Irene was a charter member of Hope Lutheran Church and was active in teaching Bible study. She enjoyed her bridge clubs, reading, crossword puzzles, and music of all kinds. She volunteered for many community events.

Irene is survived by her children, Greg (Elizabeth) Winjum; Rick (Joanelle) Winjum; and Janis Johnson; grandchildren, Victoria (Ron) Impola; Bryce (Kathy) Winjum; Stacy Foster; Mark (Ange) Warner; Scott Winjum; Kimberly (Joe) Sweeney; Kari Johnson; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oren; and brothers, Mick and Glenn.

Funeral Service: Saturday, November 6, 2010, at 11:00 AM, at Hope Lutheran Church ~ North, Fargo, ND.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial: Memorial Park South, Grand Forks, ND.
