PEARL M. 'MONTY' OLSON, 99 MACHESNEY PARK - Pearl M. "Monty" Olson, 99, of Machesney Park went to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012. Born Dec. 24, 1912, in Malta, daughter of Edward and Nettie (Applebee) Montgomery. Graduated from Sycamore High School and later SwedishAmerican Nursing College in 1934. Married Philip E. Olson on Sept. 5, 1936, in Oregon. Employed by Rockford School District for 11 years and later Harlem School District for 10 years, retiring in 1979. Member of Grace Lutheran Church. She belonged to several bowling and golf leagues. Survivors include son, Peter (Germaine) Olson of Quebec, Canada; daughter, Antoinette (Bernard) Jokiel of Sugar Grove; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Wilbur (Helen) Montgomery of Malta; sister, Inez (Charles) Knox of Calif.; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband; two brothers, Alvin and James; and two sisters, Racheal Berg and Grace Kitger. Service at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Delehanty Funeral Home Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Grace Lutheran Church or SwedishAmerican Hospital. For more information, visit delehantyfh.com.
