Reinhold George Albert, Jr. was born Sunday, December 6, 1925, at St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late Reinhold George Albert, Sr. andEmilie (Koebele) Albert.


He entered eternal rest Sunday, January 11, 2004, at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center, Sullivan, Missouri, at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 5 days.


R.G. served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He went into the service at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri, June 10, 1944 and was honorably discharged June 12, 1946 at the Separation Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He served with the 75th Combat Infantry Division in the Rhineland, Central Europe, and was awarded the Combat Victory and Good Conduct Medals and Ribbon. On April 29, 1961, at Steelville, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Fern Housewright, daughter of the late Eva (Holland) and Jona Housewright. One son and two daughters were born to this union. They have enjoyed over 42 years together, making their home near Steelville.


In addition to his parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George Albert and wife Sophia, Art Albert and wife Virginia and three sisters, Dorothy and husband Don Gravatt, Elizabeth and husband Julius Diefenbach, Mae Pipkins and husband Jack; brothers-in-law Bill Frey, Albert Sparks, Arthur Lee Housewright, Clifford Housewright, James Prentice and sister-in-law Mary Ann Hughes.


Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife Fern Albert of the home in Steelville, Missouri; their son and two daughters, Junette Tool of Rolla, Missouri, Scott Albert and wife Renee of Pacific, Missouri, Annette and husband Brian Fowler of Wentzville, Missouri. One brother Bob Albert and wife Joann of St. Peters, Missouri; five sisters Mary Sparks of St. Peters, Missouri, Carol Dace and husband Cy of Sullivan, Missouri, Shirley Williams and husband Henry of Cuba, Missouri, Joan Slade and husband Harold of Davisville, Missouri and Mildred Frey of St. Louis, Missouri. Six grandchildren, Kristina, Jimmy, Taylor, Emilie, Josh and Graham; one great grandson Evan; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.


Reinhold George Albert, Jr. laid in state 3-8 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2004 at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2004 in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Harold Slade and Rev. Jerry Beers officiating Musical selections were provided by Rev. Beers and a granddaughter Emilie Toole. Committal prayers and interment were in Meramec Hill Memorial Gardens, Cuba, Missouri.


Serving as pallbearers were Rick Branson, Marty Cook, Larry Hughes, Jeff Housewright, Joe Housewright, Roger Housewright, Mick Slade and Larry Williams. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Jerry Albert, Bill Gibson, Urban Kuenz, Jim McDole, Ronnie Squires, Bill Waller and Jim Woods.


Full military honors were provided graveside by the Eastern Area Military Honors program. Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
