Linnie R. Davis

Linnie R. Davis, 103, of West Chester, died Saturday in her home after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Moulton H. Davis, Sr.

Born in Quentin, N.J., she was s daughter of the late Alvin W. and Clara Hancock Davis.

In 1909, she and her husband moved to West Chester where they succeeded David Scott as owners and operators of a lumber yard which became the Moulton H. Davis Co. She remained active in the company's operation until 1947 when she retired. The yard is still operated today by her grandsons.

A long time member of the United Methodist Church, West Chester, she was formerly active as secretary of the Auxiliary to the Brandywine Commandery Post 88 of West Chester.

She is survived by four sons, Alvin N., Moulton H. Jr., Boyd C. and Edward H. Davis, all of West Chester, eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private.
