Mrs. Budd, who had resided for a great number of years with the Leeder family on the Plains, died last week and the funeral was held on Sunday.

Mrs. Martha Jane Budd, widow of Wade Hampton Budd, died on Thursday at the home of her son-in-law, W.H. Leeder in New Paltz, aged 87 years. She is survived by one daughter Mrs. Laura Wadsworth Budd Dick of New York. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock with interment in New Paltz Cemetery.
Martha Jane Brundage Budd never remarried after Wade Hampton Budd's early demise in 1854 in NYC and was proud to say until her death in 1915 that she was the wife of Wade Hampton Budd. Martha Jane eventually returned to New Paltz, Wade's hometown and organized the home in which she lived with her daughter Mary De La Rue Budd Leeder and Mary's husband William and their children. Martha Jane is buried in New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
