Laura Irene Ellison Curry was called home October 16, 2012. Laura was born to Ernest B. and Mable Ellison on December 23, 1920, in Superior, Nebraska. Her family then moved to Goodland, Kansas. Laura graduated from Sherman County High School in 1941. It was there that she met and married William Guy Curry II in 1942. They farmed with William's (Bill's) family in Sherman County for a few years until purchasing a dairy farm in Galeton, Colorado. Later, Bill decided to explore new areas of employment. He started working in the Oil Industry. Together, they began their incredible journey traveling all over the country. They settled in Ventura, California for many years. Then, along came the opportunity for Bill to work overseas. They moved to Malta, the most beautiful island in the Mediterranean Sea, located South of Sicily. They met many wonderful friends from all over the world. They lived there for 3 years and took the opportunity to travel throughout Europe, Africa and Asia. Bill and Laura then moved to Loveland, where they owned and operated Silver Lake Rentals, with their son, Jim for many years. Upon retiring, they became "Snow Birds", traveling to California and Nevada in the winter and living in Loveland during the summer. Bill and Laura had four children: two sons, William Guy III "Dubba G" and James Dean Curry and two daughters, Rae Ann and Pam. Laura was one of a kind. She loved traveling, dancing, bowling, gardening and playing "The One Arm Bandits". She loved spending time with family and friends. Laura also had a unique language that was all her own. Those close to her knew exactly what she meant. Others, puzzled as they might be, just went along with the flow. Some common expressions include: "For Judas PurrEast", which she often used when she was told something out of the ordinary. If she was engaged in a conversation that she did not particularly care for, she would say "Scratch it" or "Knock it right there, you're sittin on a keg of dynamite." By the way, that's just between you, me and the gatepost. The finest words of wisdom she ever gave is instilled in her children and grandchildren "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!" "Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone". Let's see, how old is Laura? Old enough to know better and too young to care! Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; sons, Dubba G. and Jim; and a granddaughter, Julie Curry. She is survived by her daughter's Rae Ann (Mark) Dasnoit of Ventura, CA and Pam (Randy) Andersen of Loveland; a brother, Dale Ellison and a sister Mary Hayden of Goodland, KS; sixteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and countless friends. Laura will sadly be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. We take comfort knowing that she is at peace and rejoice that she will dwell in the house of the Lord forever Funeral Services, with a reception following, will be held 10 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2012 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Interment Resthaven Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Laura's name to Vita's Hospice or charity of choice in care of Resthaven Funeral Home, 8426 S Hwy 287, Fort Collins, CO 80525. Good night Irene, we'll see you in our dreams you were the greatest mom and grandma that ever walked and still lived. She will live on forever in our memories, our hearts, our souls .you just hide and watch!
