This/ Monument is dedicated/ to the Memory of/ JOHN MONTGOMERY ESQR./ who departed this life Septr. 10th/ 1805, Aged Fifty two years./ As a token of their great regard/ a tender and disconfolate wife/ and an only Son have caused/ this ftone to be erected/ to him memory./ Likewife at his feet/ lies his three fmall Children./ Would bounteous heav'n indulge my/ Prayer/ I'd frame a nobler choice/ Nor living wifh the pompous pile/ Nor dead regret the lofs/ In thy fair book of life divine/ My God infcribe my name/ There let it fill fome humble place/ Beneath the flaughterd Lamb./ [on back of footstone:] W. & H. M./
