Susan Fingerson-Mathews, 97, Minot, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in a Minot nursing home.
Susan Haagenson was born August 16, 1915, on the family farm, rural Fargo, ND to Casper and Hilda (Baargaard) Haagenson. She was raised in Mabel, MN and graduated from school there. Susan earned her Standard Teaching Certificate and taught in rural schools for five years in the Preston, MN area.
She was married to Ronald Fingerson for a short time, until he passed away. Susan worked in retail stores in Minnesota, where she met her future husband, George Mathews. Following their marriage they moved to Minot, ND, where he worked as an engineer on the Garrison Dam Project. Susan worked at Jupiter Department Store in Minot for many years until her retirement.
Following retirement she continued to live in Minot, where she kept busy and enjoyed growing vegetables in her garden. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Minot, and TOPPS, and remained very active in both.
