Mezeppa Lee Craig was born as son of John C Craig and Georgia Anna Wolf in Indian Territory OK. His parents divorced in Jul 1898 and both remarried and had other families.

He married Ines Reynolds in eastern Oklahoma and had two young sons, Dawson Vernon Craig and Mezeppa Wayne Craig. His wife died at the birth of Mezeppa Wayne. At this point, I only know that he died in 1985 in Midland, Texas. He may have lived sosme of his adult life in New Mexico. Hs name was listed as spelled MAZEPPA in the Texas Death Index.

Mezeppa Lee Craig married for a second time to Lela Unknown and had a daughter, Syllrene Craig b. 17 June 1918. He then just seemed to disappear and no trace has been found. It was said that he went to work one morning and did not come home that night. The last known address was Shawnee, OK. That is why this memorial is using that information for burial, so that he can be connected to his parents and children though actual facts are not known. The boys seemed to be raised by their grandmother, Georgia Anna Wolf Carig Atteberry. The daughter was living with her mother and step-father Lela and George J. Johnson in 1930 in Cdedar Grove, Comanche, OK.

Mezeppa Lee Craig was a descendant of the famous Wolf family of Norfork, AR as his mother was the grand daughter of George Washington Wolf and great granddaughter of Major Jacob Wolf. His Wolf ancestors are found in the historic Wolf Cemetery in Baxter County, AR.

I cannot prove where the father of Mezeppa Lee Craig was buried so I am just showing that it is thought to be the John Craig as born 1853 and dying 1926. We know he was born in 1853 but we do not know any facts past the divorce in 1898. You can view this memorial that is believed to belong to but not proven to belong to his father #27987355.
