Jacob Brantley (Bammy) Ouzts is the son of Frances TIMMERMAN and George Ouzts. His father, George Ouzts is the Patriarch of the George Ouzts Line of the family of Elizabeth HARLING and George Peter Utz (now Ouzts) of Hoffenheim Germany and the Edgefield District SC.

Jacob is the youngest of five children. Jacob married Ann Dicila HARLING on November 11, 1857 in Edgefield County SC. They had three children, Nathaniel Griffin (Nathan), Ida Wilson, and Felix Brantly.

Jacob was a member of the 19th South Carolina Volunteer Infantry, Co. C, during the Civil War. He was killed in the Battle of Stones River in Murphreesboro TN and is buried in the Confederate Circle of Heroes Cemetary in an unmarked grave.
