Gaetana "Anna" Ferrara , 87, of Modesto died Sunday at English Oaks Convalescent Hospital.
Mrs. Ferrara was a native of Troina, Sicily. She had lived in Modesto since 1919. She owned Ferrara 's Delicatessen in Modesto 12 years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Italian Catholic Federation and St. Joseph's Seniors.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn Hughes of Oakland and Jim Ferrara of Modesto; a brother, Joe Merenda of Modesto; sisters, Rose Gustafson and Lucy Renna, both of Modesto; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel. A_Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the chapel.
